Flowmeters with field-selectable multi-gas capability

May 21, 2007

Universal Flow Monitors, Inc. announces FlowStream® OFM Series mass flowmeters for fast and accurate measurement of non-aggressive gases. The flowmeters are designed for processing shielding gas for arc welding and for blanketing gas, purge gas and leak detection applications. Field selectability of multiple gases is a feature of FlowStream® OFM meters for measuring mass flow rate of gases. A user can easily program the meter to select a variety of clean, dry non-aggressive gases, including air, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, methane, nitrogen and oxygen. A gas is selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face. The span of the unit’s transmitted signal can be changed with push buttons as well. Totalizing capability is offered to increase a FlowStream® meter’s ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of gas used in a process. The meters are available with programmable set points for flow as standard. A scaled pulse output for totalization is a selectable option. Bidirectional and battery-operated units are available. A rapid response time of 5 milliseconds (ms) is a selectable option for immediate detection of flow fluctuation in robotic applications and other automated systems. FlowStream® meters provide a fast 50 ms response as a standard feature. The 5 ms response time is user selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face.
