Former IBP chief steps down from Tyson board

According to Reuters, Tyson Foods Inc., on Tuesday said Robert Peterson, who led beef and pork processor IBP Inc. until it was acquired by Tyson in 2001, has resigned from the board of directors because of health issues. Peterson, 71, was chairman and chief executive of IBP for over 20 years, and joined the Tyson board after the two companies merged. A Tyson spokesman was not immediately available to comment on Peterson''s health or plans for a board replacement.
