Georgia Gulf Names Gregory Thompson CFO

January 18, 2008
The Associated Press reported recently that Georgia Gulf Corp. has named Gregory Thompson to become its new chief financial officer following the death of its former CFO.

Thompson will take the position immediately after the company files its annual report, which is expected by Feb. 29. Until then, interim CFO and Controller Mark Buckis will continue to fulfill the CFO duties.

Thompson has served as senior vice president and CFO of Invacare Corp. since 2002.

Georgia Gulf said in June that then-CFO James Matthews had taken a medical leave of absence, and it was uncertain when he would return. The company named Buckis to serve as interim CFO in his place. Georgia Gulf said in September that Matthews had died. It did not provide information about his illness.
