Kraft Foods Spent $1 Million Lobbying Government in Fourth Quarter 2009

The Associated Press reports that Kraft Foods Inc. spent $1 million in the fourth quarter to lobby on food safety, nutrition standards and other business matters, according to a recent disclosure report. The maker of Oreo cookies and Oscar Mayer hot dogs also lobbied on tax reform, trade, advertising, transportation and other issues in the October-December period. Besides Congress, Kraft, lobbied the Food and Drug Administration, Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services and the Environmental Protection Agency, according to the report filed January 20 with the House clerk''s office.
