Lyondell-Citgo refinery restarts fluid catalytic cracking unit
The Associated Press reports that Lyondell Chemical Co. said recently that its Lyondell-Citgo refinery restarted its fluid catalytic cracking unit, which was damaged after an explosion set fire to the refinery in October. The fire ignited as workers tried to restart gasoline-producing equipment that had been shut down since Hurricane Rita. The fluid catalytic cracking unit converts diesel-like product into gasoline. Lyondell said it is increasing production at the 268,000 barrels-per-day refinery — a joint venture of Lyondell and Citgo Petroleum Corp.
