June 11, 2009
The Associated Press reports that Virginia-based MeadWestvaco packaging company says it plans to lay off about 65 workers from its office-products group in Kenosha, Wis. MeadWestvaco Corp. informed the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development of the job cuts in a letter. The company says it has about 150 people at its envelope facility in Kenosha. The layoffs represent about 43 percent of that total. Plant manager Albin Narvaez says the job cuts will start in early to mid-August. MeadWestvaco is based in Glen Allen, Va.
