Michigan police seize 20 pallets of stolen snacks
August 13, 2008
Michigan State Police say they''ve seized more than 20 pallets of stolen crackers and cookies from 13 Detroit area grocery stores and a warehouse as part of a probe into stolen food, according to the Associated Press. Authorities say they were tipped off to the stolen snacks by Northfield, Illinois-based Kraft Foods Inc., which reported two tractor-trailers containing products worth more than $50,000 swiped in April from a Georgia shipping yard. The seized snacks represent about a third of the stolen products, and the investigation continues in and out of Michigan. The recovered snacks have not been tainted in any way.
