Missing worker’s body found inside chemical tank
PORTLAND, Ore. — On Sunday, rescue crews recovered the body of a worker who had fallen into a 12-foot-deep chemical tank at an industrial site on Swan Island, OregonLive.com reported.
A co-worker reported the 57-year-old man missing Sunday morning and told investigators that he had seen the man near an open hatch into the tank where he was later found.
The two were working around a 40 feet-by-50 feet barge filled with a toxic and corrosive chemical liquid called lignin amine, which is used to spray fruit trees.
The tank was emptied into a separate container in order for rescuers to remove the man’s body.
