Mobil Oil to Pay $32.2 Million Related to Lawsuit

The Associated Press reports that Mobil Natural Gas Inc., now part of Exxon Mobil Corp., will pay $32.2 million to settle claims it underpaid royalties owed on natural gas, the Department of Justice said Monday. The lawsuit against Mobil Natural Gas, Mobil Exploration & Producing U.S. Inc. and their affiliates alleges that the companies systematically underpaid royalties owed to the U.S. and various American Indian tribes between March 1, 1988 and Nov. 30, 1999. The Mobil companies became part of Exxon Mobil in 1999.
