Nine Dead in Beer Distributor Shooting

The Associated Press reports nine people are dead and others wounded in a workplace shooting in Manchester, Conn., at Hartford Distributors.The number of dead was confirmed by a Connecticut government official who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.Police say that the suspect, an employee of the company, shot himself as authorities approached him. A company executive told the Associated Press that the employee had been called in to resign. The shooting occurred in a facility of the beer and wine distribution company, one of the state''s largest. Authorities have now launched a criminal investigation and a full crisis unit is heading to the scene. The company is one of the state''s largest beer and wine distributorships, supplying hundreds of brands. The Teamsters union represents employees.
