NTEP-approved belt scale integrator

April 30, 2007

Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc.’s BW500 belt scale integrator recently received National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) Certification of Conformance for weighing and measuring devices from the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM). With NTEP approval, the BW500, in conjunction with the NTEP-approved Milltronics-brand MMI belt scale, can now be used in custody transfer applications in the U.S. Additionally, the BW500/MMI system received Electronic Indicator/Totalizer approval from Measurement Canada, making it legal for trade in Canada.Because other systems need three, four or six idlers to accomplish the same approval, the Siemens BW500/MMI system costs approximately 15-20 percent less, according to the manufacturer. Additionally, end-users will experience less downtime for installation because there is no need to hire a crane operator to move the Siemens NTEP BW500/MMI scale package of the delivery truck and to the installation point. It has a shipping weight of up to three times less than other belt scale/integrator systems.
