One dead, four missing following chemical tanker explosion

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Lighting struck a Malaysian tanker loaded with methanol today, causing an explosion that killed at least one crewmember, The Sun Daily reported.

Four other crewmembers are still missing.

The accident happened at a methanol terminal run by national energy firm Petronas on the South China Sea island of Labuan, off Borneo, the article stated.

The 38,000-ton tanker was about 80% destroyed, according to local police.
