PepsiCo Buys Bulgarian Seed, Nuts Seller

Beverage and snack maker PepsiCo Inc. said recently it agreed to buy Penelopa, a Bulgarian producer and seller of nuts and seeds, the Associated Press reports.

Terms were undisclosed.

Penelopa sells peanuts, sunflower seeds and other savory snacks in Bulgaria and operates one plant that employs about 200 people.

Currently, PepsiCo distributes snacks in Bulgaria from Romania, Greece and Turkey, under the Lay''s, Ruffles, Cheetos and Doritos brands.

The drink maker also sells Pepsi, Pepsi Light, Pepsi Twist, Pepsi X, 7UP, Mirinda, Evervess, Mountain Dew and Gatorade in Bulgaria.
