Red Bull pulled from shelves in China

February 13, 2012

SHANGHAI — Red Bull products were pulled off the shelves of many supermarkets in China in reaction to concerns that the energy drink might contain additives that have not been approved by the State Food and Drug Administration, ChinaDaily.com.cn reported.

Red Bull posted a statement on its website Saturday, insisting that its products are safe.

"We took all the beverages from this brand off the shelf on Saturday out of safety concerns, even though the reports gave conflicting answers as to whether the drink was safe or not," said a store manager at City Shop in Shanghai''s Huangpu district on Sunday.
