Shell to announce site of new petrochemical plant

January 4, 2012

PITTSBURGH — Shell Oil Company will announce early this year the location of a new petrochemical plant in the Marcellus Shale region, The Associated Press reported.

Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia are the possible states where the plant may be built, but Shell will not say which state has the lead.

C. Alan Walker, Pennsylvania''s Secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development, says such a plant could represent as big an investment as Andrew Carnegie made when he was building the steel industry.
