LAKE CONROE, Texas — The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) last week approved a loan in the amount of $230,530,000 to the San Jacinto River Authority from the Texas Water Development Fund to finance a surface water treatment system, YourHoustonNews.com reported.

The San Jacinto River Authority intends to use the funds to proceed with its Groundwater Reduction Plan, which calls for the construction of a surface water treatment plant on Lake Conroe, and a pipeline system that will transport water to Conroe, The Woodlands and selected areas in South Montgomery County.

Construction of the water treatment plant is expected to start sometime between September and October, while installation of the pipeline system is targeted for a startup in first half of 2013.
