Unilever opens Vietnam distribution center

Consumer goods giant Unilever PLC has opened Vietnam''s largest distribution center to serve that country''s growing economy and ship goods to 18 other countries, according to the Associated Press. The 25-acre facility opened last week in Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park in Binh Duong province near Ho Chi Minh City. It has the capacity to distribute 2,000 tons of goods a day, said project manager Huynh Thi Truc Lien. The US$12 million center is Unilever''s largest and most modern facility in Southeast Asia. Vietnam, with a population of 84 million, grew 8.2 percent last year, one of Asia''s highest rates.
