January 5, 2011

According to Bloomberg, nutrition labels that include the number of calories and the grams of fat a product contains will be required on 40 popular cuts of meat and poultry as of Jan. 1, 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. The requirement applies to cuts of raw, single-ingredient meat and poultry. Included are whole or boneless chicken breasts and beef cuts such as brisket and tenderloin steak, as well as hamburger and ground turkey, the department said in an e-mailed statement.
