February 14, 2012

TEXAS CITY, Texas — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating an industrial accident that killed one worker at the Dallas Group Of America’s Texas City plant Saturday, the Galveston Daily News reported.

Virgel James Stocker, 26, was working at the plant Saturday night when he either fell or became entangled in some mechanical equipment.

An OSHA investigator will look into whether Stocker was overcome by fumes or gases before he was killed, the article stated.

The Dallas Group produces a number of adsorbent synthetic magnesium silicate products mainly for the food industry.

The company also is the country’s only manufacturer of ammonium chloride, which can be harmful if ingested.
