Regency Energy Partners LP on Tuesday announced a $1.1 billion expansion of its north Louisiana pipeline to provide a way for producers drilling in the Haynesville Shale formation to ship natural gas to the marketplace according to the Associated Press. Regency said its intrastate network will have additional capacity to handle 1.45 billion cubic feet per day when complete sometime in the first quarter of 2010. The project will be done in two phases and will include looping the existing pipeline, extending the system and adding new compression. Dallas-based Regency said it has received letters of intent from shippers to sign long-term transportation agreements for about 76 percent of incremental capacity and has interest from others for what space is available. The Haynesville Shale formation stretches through parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
