According to the Associated Press, Rohm & Haas Co. announced recently it is raising prices for all acrylic-based emulsions -- chemicals used to make adhesives -- by 6 percent to 8 percent to help cope with mushrooming prices.

The specialty materials company said the chemicals used to make acrylic-based emulsions continue to reach record prices. In order to offset the escalation in costs, the company''s packaging and building materials division is raising prices for acrylic- and styrene acrylic-based emulsions, which are typically sold to customers in the adhesives, textile, construction and packaging industries.

This price increase will affect the company''s Robond and Rhoplex brands.
