State regulators allege serious violations at Texas chemical plant

WAXAHACHIE, Texas — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) handed down a list of alleged violations Wednesday against a chemical blending plant that caught fire and burned to the ground last October, WFAA.com reported.

The Magnablend plant was cited with four major violations in connection with the incident.

After a five-month investigation, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) determined that Magnablend: caused a traffic hazard during the fire; failed to submit the required emissions report after the fire; exceeded emissions limitations; and created a hazardous nuisance in the community.

State officials also found fault with operations inside the plant, saying, "…conditions at Magnablend which led to the fire and resulting emissions may have been prevented with proper engineering design, maintenance and education."
