CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. — Sugar Creek Packing Co., a food processing company based in Washington Court House, Ohio, announced plans to take over the former Really Cool Foods processing plant near Cambridge City, Ind., next year, Paladium-Item reported.
Really Cool Foods opened the $24 million plant in 2007, but the company struggled and closed its doors in November 2011.
Sugar Creek purchased the plant and property for $13 million in a bankruptcy auction this week.
“Sugar Creek came forward pretty quickly as a prospect and put an offer on the table,” said Wayne County Attorney Ron Cross. “Their stated intention is to take over the facility and operate it.”
Sugar Creek provides a wide assortment of raw and fully cooked products for domestic and international customers, according to the company’s website.
