MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two workers suffered severe burns in a fire early Monday morning at the Penn Specialty Chemicals plant in Memphis, wmctv.com reported.
The fire started around 2:00 a.m. The cause of the incident has not been reported.
According to fire officials, there were 12 workers in the facility at the time of the fire. Two employees received burns on 80 to 90% of their bodies and were rushed to a local hospital.
The company manufactures additives in specialty chemicals, including furfurylamine, which is used as the active ingredient in pesticides and herbicides and also as an engine cleaning solvent.
