The Associated Press reports that Unilever PLC will cut 175 jobs at its Unilever Home and Personal Care U.S.A. unit, the company said Thursday. The job cuts, which are spread over the country, will be completed next February, Unilever said. The Home and Personal Care unit employs 2,200 salaried employees. The group has 5,500 workers overall. Unilever also said that starting in the second quarter, it is shutting down its Trumbull offices and moving all Connecticut employees to Greenwich. The consolidation will be completed by the end of 2004, Unilever said. London-based Unilever PLC is the British arm of Anglo-Dutch packaged consumer goods conglomerate Unilever Group. Its products include Lipton tea, Ragu sauces, Breyers ice cream and Dove soap. It had 2002 revenue of $58.9 billion.
