MARTINEZ, Ga. — A jury heard opening statements today in the trial of a man accused of shooting a Columbia County wastewater treatment plant employee last April, the Columbia County News-Times reported.

The defendant, 43-year-old Thomas Eugene Bradford of Hephzibah, Ga., is accused of fatally shooting 38-year-old Raymond V. Lee at a Martinez wastewater plant on April 1.

According to authorities, Bradford, a driver for Thomson-based Hudsons Grassing Co. Inc., and Lee argued at the Reed Creek Water Pollution Control Plant on Stevens Creek Road on April 1.

Witnesses said during the argument and physical fight between the men, Bradford brandished a pistol and shot Lee.

Bradford was indicted for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and pled not guilty to those charges in June, the article stated.
