Biogas Flow Measurement Challenges and Solutions

Aug. 12, 2015

The measurement of biogases produced from digesters in water and wastewater plants can be tricky. As the seasons change, the operational range of the biogases change.

KROHNE has flowmeter solutions that specifically meet the growing demands for accurate biogas flow measurement in a wide and seasonally varying operational range. Anaerobic Digestion occurs in biodigesters and produces biogas, removes Biochemical Oxygen Demand from sewage, conserves nutrients and, most importantly, reduces pathogens. The biogas, in turn, can be used as a supplemental heat or power generation energy source. Depending on the influent, and the treatment facility’s size and design, the resulting biogas flowing conditions can vary greatly from season to season and from plant to plant.
