Global bulk handling equipment for food & beverage industry propelled by automation & processed foods

The global bulk handling equipment for the food and beverage industry is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 5 percent from 2017 to 2021, according to Technavio market research analysts.

Technavio analysts highlight the following three market drivers that are contributing to the growth of this equipment for the food and beverage industry:

  • Rising disposable incomes in emerging economies
  • Increased government support for processed foods
  • Shift toward automation and modernization of processes

There has been a rise in demand for processed foods due to improvements in the economic conditions of developed countries, Technavio reports. This has also been accompanied by an increase in disposable income in developing countries such as China, India, and Saudi Arabia. This has resulted in increased demand for food processing machinery and solutions to meet the production requirements of F&B companies.

Government support for processed products in fruits and vegetables will aid in the growth of the food processing sector. This will propel the growth of the food industry, thereby driving the demand for bulk handling equipment.

Another driver influencing the growth of the market is the automation and modernization of process lines in manufacturing plants. Most of the food processing lines have automation and motion controls such as material conveying and positioning, drying, heating, and cooling. They also require other process parameters such as cleanliness, gentle handling, control of pressure, and temperature. This food processing machinery is also integrated with packaging and labeling equipment. With the increase in process automation in F&B processing, the market for bulk handling equipment is expected to grow during the forecast period.

Food safety regulations drive demand for food robotics

Increase in the food safety regulations is anticipated to drive the demand for food robotics in the near future, according to an Allied Market Research report.

In recent years, robotics have been adopted in the food and beverage industry primarily because of the advantages offered by these robots such as high speed of productivity, better cleanliness and hygiene, more flexibility, according to the report, "Food Robotics Market Size by Players, Type, Application and Forecast by 2023."

In addition, employee safety rules are expected to replace manual labors with industrial robots. These robots have added advantage that they can perform multiple tasks at the same time, thus giving more and improved productivity. The changes in lifestyle of people results in surge in demand for packaged and ready-to-eat food products. This in turn, is anticipated to boost the demand for food robotics during the analysis period.

Food & beverage temperature sensors market to see strong growth

The temperature sensors market will be valued at $6.86 billion by 2023 with a compounding annual growth rate of 4.5 percent between 2017 and 2023, according to MarketsandMarkets’s new report, “Temperature Sensors Market by Product Type and Geography – Global Forecast to 2023.”

The major factors driving growth of the temperature sensors market include the increasing demand for advanced and portable healthcare equipment and the growing automotive sector.

The temperature sensors market for the food and beverage industry is expected to grow at a high between 2017 and 2023. This market growth can be attributed to the rising concerns pertaining to food safety, increasing government regulations on storage and transportation of food products, and rising trend of frozen and preprocessed food products.

Thermocouples accounted for the largest market size among all the temperature sensors products owing to their wide applications across process and non-process industries.
