Industrial use of mobile sewage treatment systems set to rise

Feb. 4, 2016

Market research and consulting firm TechSci Research found that the industrial and residential sectors are the key end users of mobile sewage treatment systems, and growing demand and awareness about the benefits of mobile treatment systems will lead to increasing use in these sectors over the next few years.

Industries in the U.S. account for about 60 percent of the market for mobile sewage treatment systems, according to a new study.

Market research and consulting firm TechSci Research found that the industrial and residential sectors are the key end users of mobile sewage treatment systems, and growing demand and awareness about the benefits of mobile treatment systems will lead to increasing use in these sectors over the next few years.

Mobile sewage treatment systems are modular or movable systems used for treatment of sewage at the site of generation. Compared to conventional sewage treatment systems, mobile treatment systems are compact, easy to install, energy efficient and do not require skilled labor to operate.

Various factors are anticipated to boost adoption of mobile sewage treatment systems during 2015-2020, including aging wastewater treatment facilities; rising awareness regarding the benefits of these systems; depleting water resources; implementation of stringent government regulations on wastewater disposal and discharge; and the growing number of gated colonies, group housing societies as well as individual homes, commercial spaces and manufacturing industries.

TechSci Research expects the market for mobile sewage treatment systems in the United States to reach $134 million by 2021.

“Implementation of stringent standards for zero level of contamination by the government as well as increasing awareness regarding short and long term benefits using mobile sewage treatments systems is anticipated to underpin growth of mobile sewage treatment systems market in the country,” commented Karan Chechi, research director at TechSci Research. “In order to increase affordability and adoption of these systems across the country, leading players operating in the U.S. mobile sewage treatment systems market are also offering their products on rent.”
