Shortly after it announced what is considered to be the biggest oil discovery in the North Sea for decades, Statoil said it had made a new discovery in the area, this time in the Grane field.

Norwegian energy giant Statoil announced Friday that it had found "significant" new oil resources in the North Sea.

Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil has been awarded a total of 15 leases in the U.S. Gulf Coast, after it became clear that it was the highest bidder in a recent lease sale by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
