Podcast: The importance of strong management systems in process industries

Sept. 19, 2016

MasterControl strategic partner Walt Murray explains how his company’s QMS functions across multiple industries — not just life sciences.

In the following podcast, Lori Ditoro, Processing’s editorial director and editor in chief, speaks with Walt Murry, strategic partner for MasterControl Quality & Compliance Consulting, during the INTERPHEX Conference & Exhibition. Murray explains how his MasterControl’s QMS functions across multiple industries — not just life sciences as is often thought.

In the podcast, Murray says:

While a QMS (quality management system) is very broad in its application, processing-type organizations — typically a manufacturer — have a condition that’s actually a line item inside the quality system where it asks to define the nature of processing and the level of control that is over that processing. It has very specific line items for what is known as product realization, so the kind of things that you find in that area are: What kind of workflows describe the nature of the processing, what kind of resources and the nature of training associated with those resources?

Walt Murray, ICLA, CSSMBB, president and CEO of ARC Experts and strategic partner for MasterControl Quality & Compliance Consulting, is a globally recognized compliance and risk consultant. With more than 32 years of experience working with highly regulated companies, Murray is a CQEH&S Lead Auditor and certified in quality and environmental systems auditing (AQS Systems), Critical-Thinking Skills (CTS – Alamo Learning Systems), and process control and improvement. He has performed more than 300 audits for a variety of sites for Fortune 500-regulated companies and hosted investigational and systems audits for the FDA, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Health Canada.
