Three Texas food producers have announced recalls of meat products that may contain traces of peanuts, a known allergen which is not declared on the product label.
This action follows a recall by Adams Flavors, Foods & Ingredients of cumin products because they may contain undeclared peanut proteins. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts face the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Garcia Foods, Inc. is recalling approximately 190,450 pounds of pork products produced between October 5, 2014 and December 24, 2014, including 12-oz. vacuum-packed, raw pork sausage link pieces of "HILL COUNTRY FARE CHORIZO" and 8-oz. vacuum-packed, raw pork sausage chubs of "HILL COUNTRY FARE CHORIZO".
HEB Meat Center is recalling approximately 83,666 pounds of chorizo and pork products which were produced between October 16, 2014 and December 26, 2014. The products include vacuum-packed clear packages containing "Pork Chorizo", clear covered trays containing "HEB Mi Comida Chorizo Pork Chorizo" and vacuum-packed clear packages containing "SEASONED MEXICAN STYLE PORK FOR CARNE AL PASTOR".
J & B Sausage Co. is recalling approximately 45,904 pounds of chicken and beef products produced between August 25, 2014 and December 15, 2014. The affected products are 5-lb. packages of fully cooked "Chefs-In-A-Bag CHICKEN TACO FILLING", 1-lb. packages of HEB "FULLY COOKED Texas Style BEEF CHILI No Beans", 1-lb. packages of HEB "FULLY COOKED Taqueria Style PICADILLO Seasoned Ground Beef with Potatoes, Onion, Tomatoes and Peppers" and 1-lb. packages of HEB "FULLY COOKED CARNE GUISADA Seasoned Beef in Gravy".
These products were shipped to various retail locations across Texas.
There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of any of the products.
