Aqua Terra Water Management, L.P., a Canadian company that operates salt water disposal facilities, said on Thursday that it has expanded its business into the United States.

Two salt water disposal facilities operated by Borejaks Energy Services, LLC have been acquired by Aqua Terra for an undisclosed sum.

These two facilities are located in the Bakken shale region, in North Dakota's McKenzie and Dunn counties. Following the acquisition they will operate under the Aqua Terra brand.

Commenting on the deal, Scott Perekslis, managing partner and co-founder of Bregal Partners, which backs Aqua Terra, said that it was in line with the company's ambition to serve all the major light oil and liquids rich plays in North America.

"Our pending facility near Alameda, Saskatchewan, combined with the acquired facilities in the U.S. Bakken creates a cross-border solution that few water management companies can provide," he added.

Aqua Terra has expanded rapidly since it was formed in November last year, growing its network from two facilities to 10 as a result of both greenfield development and acquisitions. The company expects to be operating at least 14 facilities by the end of 2014, Perekslis said.

Four Winds Energy Services Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aqua Terra, recently opened two new facilities serving the Viking oil play in southeastern Alberta.
