Adhesive specialist Bostik has expanded its global footprint with the opening of a new production plant near the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru.

The facility, producing tile adhesive and related cementitious powder products, is expected to help the company provide better, faster service to local customers and support new construction projects planned and already underway in the region.

Several types of products for the construction industry will be manufactured at the 1,500 square meter plant, including cementitious tile adhesives (CTAs), non-shrink grout and skim coat, all of which are based on Bostik's Polymer Modified Binder (PMB) technology platform.

This expansion means that products such as Excel-Flex, Maxi-Flex, Super-Fixall and Ultra-Mastik will be more readily available to building professionals in southern Malaysia and Singapore.

The new plant will have a capacity of an estimated at 14,000 metric tons per year.

Bostik Malaysia has recently introduced a range of new tiling systems that comply with international standards. It has also secured local official approval for many of its CTA, waterproofing, sealant and flooring products. A total of 13 products have been approved by Singapore's Housing and Development Board and 10 products have been awarded Green Label status by the Singapore Environment Council.

The managing director of Bostik Malaysia, Chuen-Peng Ting, said that the new facility "reinforces the company's commitment to local construction activities and demonstrates our support for these exciting new projects." The increased production capacities will act as a platform to develop its presence in the region, he added.
