Monogram Foods has completed its acquisition of Golden County Foods, a supplier of frozen appetizers and snacks.

The business was purchased out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for $37.2 million.

Golden County Foods generates approximately $100 million annual sales and has 550 employees at its two production facilities in Plover, Wisconsin.

The acquired business will be renamed Monogram Appetizers. Monogram said that it plans to increase pay and add 50 more workers in Plover, and intends to maintain relationships with all existing Golden County Foods customers and vendors.

“This acquisition helps to strengthen our position in and commitment to the frozen foods category, and with the expectation that we will save and create jobs at each of our plants,” commented Monogram’s chairman and CEO Karl Schledwitz.

Golden County Foods described the transaction as “a positive outcome for the company, its constituents and its operations”.

As a result of the acquisition Monogram Foods now owns manufacturing plants in six states: Virginia, Minnesota, Indiana, Texas, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Monogram itself was formed in 2004 with the purchase of King Cotton and Circle B brand meats from Sara Lee Corporation.

The company manufactures and markets beef jerky, corn dogs, pre-cooked bacon, smoked sausage and other value-added meat products. Brands supplied by Monogram include Wild Bill’s, O’Brien’s, Trail’s Best, Hannah’s, Bull’s and licensed brands Bass Pro Shop’s Uncle Buck’s, Johnsonville, Butterball and Team Realtree.
