Princes invests in energy efficient cooker and new bottling line

Jan. 22, 2016

A new ready-to-drink bottling line will produce 250-milliliter (ml) and 500-ml bottles and could lead to further growth and development of new products.

Food and drink group Princes is investing in two of its U.K. manufacturing facilities, adding a high speed cooker for baked beans and a new bottling line for soft drinks.

The energy efficient cooker at the company’s Wisbech food production site will increase production capacity and operating speed, while reducing the amount of energy used during the manufacturing process.

Ruth Simpson, corporate relations director for Princes, said: “We are constantly seeking new energy efficiencies throughout all our sites, and the opportunity to reduce our energy consumption with this new cooker was a key consideration in the investment.”

The roof of the factory will be lifted off in January 2017 in order to install the cooker using a crane. It is expected to be fully operational by May 2017.

Meanwhile, Princes will increase capacity at its Bradford soft drinks factory by installing a new ready-to-drink bottling line. The new line will produce 250-milliliter (ml) and 500-ml bottles and could lead to further growth and development of new products.

The site already produces more than 400 million bottles of soft drinks each year.

In November 2015, Princes announced a major extension and redevelopment project at its bottled water site in Eden Valley, Cumbria. This £15-million ($21-million) project will include a factory extension to accommodate a new bottling line and construction of a building to house a new laboratory, engineering workshop and staff facilities.
