Foxconn and Rockwell Automation partner on IIoT

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., also known as Foxconn, and Rockwell Automation are collaborating to implement Connected Enterprise and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) concepts for smart manufacturing in Foxconn’s new U.S. facilities. The companies will also collaborate to develop and apply smart manufacturing solutions at Foxconn’s global electronics assembly operations and within the related industry ecosystem.

Schenck Process to open segregated stainless steel production plant

Schenck Process is renovating its main plant at its Whitewater, Wisconsin, location into a dedicated stainless steel production facility in an effort to better serve the high-end food, dairy, nutraceutical and fine chemical markets. The change removes carbon steel manufacturing at the main plant and replaces it with all stainless steel manufacturing to meet current hygienic standards. This eliminates the potential for corrosion and cross contamination between carbon steel and stainless steel parts during cutting, forming, welding and finishing steps.

Matcon Americas opens New Jersey facility

Matcon Americas held a grand opening of its new 8,000-square-foot facility in Delran, New Jersey, to a crowd that included the local mayor, two members of the town council, and a contingent of customers, partners and agents. The new warehouse provides space for the company to supply aftersales parts and perform local repairs. It also houses a world-class test laboratory. 

AJ Manufacturing moves to larger facility

AJ Manufacturing makers of stainless steel air distribution products for critical environments, completed its move into a new 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and headquarters. The new building in suburban Kansas City, Missouri, more than doubles the space of AJ’s previous manufacturing plant. The facility includes a new tower loader for the company’s laser cutting machines that gives the company multiple automated high-speed lasers capable of running 24 hours a day. The facility also features a new  powder coating system for a more homogenous finish with improved color quality.

Indegy named Gartner Cool Vendor

Gartner Inc. named Indegy a Cool Vendor for 2017. Gartner analysts profile vendors that provide innovative solutions for device and information management, analytics, security, and integration for industrial IoT platform consolidation and compiles the information in the report, “Cool Vendors in Digitalization Through Industrie 4.0.”  

HCS Group signs long-term supply agreement with Gevo

HCS Group GmbH (HCS) signed a five-year off-take agreement on renewable isooctane with Gevo Inc. The supply agreement with Gevo consists of two phases. The first phase commenced last month with HCS’s purchase of isooctane produced at Gevo’s demonstration hydrocarbon plant located in Silsbee, Texas. The second phase consists of HSC’s purchase of a large volume of isooctane per year from Gevo’s first commercial hydrocarbon facility, which is expected to be built at Gevo’s existing isobutanol production facility in Luverne, Minnesota.

Third SC Johnson site running on 100 percent wind energy

SC Johnson’s Bay City, Michigan site, which manufactures Ziploc-brand bags, joined two other company-owned manufacturing sites running on 100 percent wind energy for electricity. Now, nearly a third of SC Johnson’s energy usage around the world comes from renewable sources. Bay City achieved this milestone by purchasing 100 percent of its wind energy from nearby wind farms.

Landia wins new contract in Scotland

Landia was awarded a new contract in Scotland to supply pumping, mixing, ensiling and pasteurization equipment for fish morts that will be utilized as feedstock for an expanding AD plant. The 8m3 pasteurizer, which is fitted with Landia’s side-entry propeller mixer and equally robust dry-installed chopper pump, will process the fish morts in accordance with animal by-products regulations, fully approved by vets.

PcVue, Sentryo offer advanced cybersecurity in SCADA technology

PcVue Inc. and Sentryo S.A. announced the availability of ICS CyberVision for advanced cybersecurity protection of PcVue supervisory control and data acquisition, human machine interface (HMI) and building management system applications. This global partnership brings operational technology-(OT) focused monitoring and cyber threat detection for industrial control systems. The technology fosters OT & IT collaboration for enterprise-wide protection of critical infrastructures such as power generation and distribution, water and wastewater, transportation systems and infrastructure like trains, bridges and tunnels, intelligent building management, manufacturing, oil and gas, and other applications that rely on high availability industrial automation.

IRIS enters into global collaboration with TruTag

IRIS Corporation Bhd is partnering with U.S. authentication and digital security company TruTag Technologies Inc.,  to investigate the global potential for smartcard and secure label applications. TruTag developed the Optical Memory (iOM) device, a digital "cookie" that enables the digitization of the analogue world. TruTag’s iOM devices are dust-sized particles that can be embedded into the fabric of a product without the need for packaging or labels. They are edible and covert, and can digitize a plethora of items for product intelligence for effectively counteracting the $1 trillion global problem of counterfeit and diverted products.

Schaeffler AG and Fraunhofer sign a strategic partnership agreement

Schaeffler AG and Fraunhofer have entered into a strategic partnership designed to tackle questions such as, "how can emissions-free, intelligent mobility in the future be created in increasingly digitalized urban environments?" Regularly exchanging information about the changes going on in the world and the resulting challenges and opportunities are key elements for both parties.

Global Shop Solutions opens new facility at headquarters

Global Shop Solutions held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the third building at its headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. The new 10,000-square-foot facility includes a 72-seat training room equipped with the latest technology, a community dining/kitchen area with a market and an outdoor, covered patio designed to seat up to 100 people.


AMS certification awarded to De Dietrich Process Systems GmbH

De Dietrich Process Systems GmbH’s  Occupational Safety and Health Management System was audited by the German Social Accident Insurance Institution VBG, and, for the first time, in February 2017 was certified as compliant with “AMS- Arbeitsschutz mit System.” The chemical plant equipment manufacturer adopted a quick method of hazard assessment in its factory in an effort to eliminate any potential danger points.

Company name changes 

Dust Control Technology changes name to BossTek

Dust Control Technology changed its name to BossTek to better reflect all of the company’s product lines, including the OdorBoss odor suppression technology and the KoolBoss crowd cooling technology for large outdoor events. The company’s expansion into other aspects of industrial air quality comes as a result of repeated inquiries from businesses with unmet needs for solutions to common issues.

ASI DATAMYTE GmbH announces name change

Munich-based technology investor Alpina Partners acquired ASI DATAMYTE GmbH and is renaming the company QDA SOLUTIONS GmbH. The new company will be headquartered in Lübeck, Germany, and will specialize in its core business – software solutions for quality management. QDA SOLUTIONS GmbH will continue developing the Computer Aided Quality (CAQ) software QDA and take an active part in designing the future of Industrie 4.0.
