Explosion-proof, ATEX-certified rotary valves from process equipment manufacturer Gericke USA are offered with the company's proprietary RotaSafe valve rotor safety system to provide an extra layer of protection when transferring combustible materials in hazardous environments.
Offered as an option, the RotaSafe system automatically monitors the rotary valve for metal to metal contact between the rotor and housing and if detected, instantly shuts down power to the drive motor. Damage to the rotor, seals, bearings, or other components that could compromise explosion-proof operation is prevented while the integrity of the rigorous ATEX certification remains intact per Directive 2014/34/EU.
Often specified to reduce risk when pneumatic conveying dry, bulk materials, the automated RotaSafe safety system activates the shutdown procedure in cases of material buildup on the vanes, excessive load on the rotor, imminent bearing failure, and other issues. RotaSafe is available on all of the company's ATEX-certified rotary airlock valves, which total more than 15,000 configurations to suit any hazardous and non-hazardous environment.
