Kansas State University – Olathe will hold a new short course titled Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Automation August 26-27, 2025. The two-day, in-person workshop is intended for engineering and management professionals who define critical inputs for PLCs but do not program the PLCs. The course will provide a hands-on introduction and deeper understanding of PLC systems, programming and practical applications in industrial automation. The program is structured to cover foundational knowledge, technical skills and real-world applications. The course will cover:
PLC architecture, programming and troubleshooting basics
Industrial communication protocols and real-world applications
Concepts in creating, deploying and maintaining PLC-based systems in various industrial contexts
Related technologies in automation, such as Ethernet, Profinet, Modbus, HMI and SCADA, as well as their functions.
The course costs $1,300 per person, and lunches are provided. The registration deadline is August 19.
