Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTI) has announced a series of plant expansions and upgrades aimed at increasing cat litter production capacity in the United States, Canada, and China. The projects are part of the company’s effort to meet rising demand in the pet care sector through its SIVO business unit.

The investments cover facilities in Dyersburg, Tennessee; Brantford, Ontario; and Chaoyang City in Liaoning Province, China. According to the company, the upgrades are already underway and are scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

In North America, the projects will broaden manufacturing capabilities and streamline logistics processes to improve throughput and flexibility. In China, MTI will significantly expand capacity to support a growing customer base in a rapidly developing pet care market.

D.J. Monagle III, Group President of MTI’s Consumer & Specialties Segment, said the initiatives are designed to improve productivity, safety, quality, and capacity while addressing increased demand for innovative, high-quality cat litter solutions.

MTI, through its SIVO division, supplies private label cat litter in a range of formulas, sizes, and package formats. The company said the current investments will also support customer requirements for research and development, packaging, and strategically located facilities.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Douglas T. Dietrich noted that the expansions will enhance the company’s ability to grow its private label cat litter business while maintaining quality standards and strengthening partnerships with major brands.
