Saint-Gobain Ceramics and Eurodia Industrie have announced a strategic partnership to develop and supply integrated solutions for the Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) market. The collaboration combines Saint-Gobain’s advanced lithium-selective adsorbent materials with Eurodia’s process engineering and system integration expertise to accelerate the deployment of sustainable, high-efficiency lithium recovery technologies.

According to the companies, the partnership aims to support global lithium producers with turnkey DLE systems that deliver higher recovery rates and lower environmental impact compared to traditional evaporation methods. Direct Lithium Extraction recovers over 90 percent of lithium ions from brines while reducing land use, processing time, and water consumption by reinjecting spent brine.

Othman Benjelloun-Touimi, CEO of Saint-Gobain Ceramics, said the partnership unites complementary strengths in materials science and process engineering to advance lithium sustainability and performance. Eurodia President Mathieu Bailly added that the alliance enables the delivery of fully guaranteed, optimized DLE operations that give producers greater confidence in scaling up production.

Saint-Gobain’s lithium adsorbents, developed through extensive research in ceramics and lithium-selective materials, are designed for high capacity and durability in cyclic adsorption and desorption processes central to DLE systems. Eurodia contributes decades of experience designing and scaling purification and separation technologies for industries transitioning to more sustainable operations.

The partnership is already working with lithium developers and technology integrators in several regions, with pilot systems currently being designed and deployed. Together, Saint-Gobain Ceramics and Eurodia Industrie aim to advance the industrial-scale adoption of efficient, low-impact lithium extraction technologies essential to the global energy transition.
