Fortress Technology to launch Raptor Flex automated checkweigher at Interpack 2026
Fortress Technology will introduce the Raptor Flex automated checkweigher at Interpack 2026, which taking place May 7-13 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The Raptor Flex is a compact system designed to help food processors reduce product giveaway and verify package weights.
The Raptor Flex is designed to check the weight of packaged food products such as confectionery, bakery items, cooked meats and nutrition bars. According to Fortress Technology, the system targets small and medium-sized food processors that require automated checkweighing without complex installation or high capital cost.
The modular checkweigher is installed at the end of inspection lines to confirm packaged product weights and support compliance with weight regulations. By verifying pack weights in real time, the system helps processors reduce product overfill and maintain consistent package accuracy.
Fortress Technology said the Raptor Flex is designed with standard machine sizes and configurations to shorten production lead times and speed delivery. The system, including reporting and connectivity software, is manufactured in-house.
Product manager Matt Gidman said the faster delivery schedule enables processors to upgrade quality control processes more quickly and respond to changing production demands.
Constructed from stainless steel, the Raptor Flex is designed to fit existing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point inspection lines. Two wipe-clean, lift-out conveyors support high-speed weighing of up to 200 packs per minute.
Flexible input/output electronics allow the system to integrate with Fortress Technology metal detectors and X-ray inspection systems. The checkweigher can also provide trend feedback to upstream filling, portioning and packaging equipment.
The system includes a 10.1-inch color HMI touchscreen designed to simplify operation. A top-mounted status beacon alerts production staff to operational issues, while the display presents live performance data, batch statistics and key performance indicators.
To reduce setup time, the Raptor Flex includes 500 pre-programmed product categories. A multi-level password system restricts operator access and helps prevent unintended changes to machine settings.
Batch reports can be exported via USB or automated through Contact 4.0 connectivity. Optional OPC UA and Ethernet/IP communication adapters support integration with plant-wide production networks.
Processors can configure the system with three conveyor widths — 100 millimeters, 200 millimeters and 300 millimeters — and multiple reject mechanisms, including air blast, diverter paddles and kickers. Optional lift-off covers are also available.
According to Gidman, the Raptor Flex is designed to help processors improve quality control while maintaining flexible production schedules and meeting tight delivery timelines.
