Sterling Engineering has announced the acquisition of Absolute Machine Control Technologies, Inc. (AMCT), a controls engineering and control system integration company based in Rockford, Illinois.

The acquisition expands Sterling Engineering’s capabilities in industrial automation by adding expertise in machine controls, including electrical and software design, PLC programming and debugging, and system integration.

According to Sterling Engineering, the addition of AMCT strengthens its ability to deliver more complete automation solutions to manufacturing, OEM, and system integration customers. The combined capabilities are expected to support a broader range of automation, retrofit, and smart manufacturing projects.

According to Sterling Engineering CEO Dolores Connolly, AMCT’s experience with industrial machine systems and controls integration aligns closely with the company’s automation focus and enhances its ability to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Founded in 2008, AMCT provides controls engineering services across HMI and PLC software, servo systems, and electrical design. Its work includes developing control systems for automated equipment, including schematics, bills of materials, programming, panel building, and machine wiring.

Sterling Engineering said the acquisition positions the company to operate as a single-source design partner for automation machines by combining equipment automation experience with machine controls expertise.
