Clorox announces leadership transition as Linda Rendle steps down for health reasons
The Clorox Company announced that Chair and Chief Executive Officer Linda Rendle has asked the company’s Board of Directors to begin a search for her successor as she plans to step down for health reasons.
Rendle will remain chair and chief executive officer while the search process is underway and until a new leader is appointed. According to Clorox, she will also serve in an advisory role following the appointment to support business performance and leadership transition efforts.
The company said the succession process will be led by an independent chief executive officer search committee formed by the board and supported by an executive search firm.
Matthew J. Shattock, lead independent director of The Clorox Company Board of Directors, said Rendle helped guide the company through operational and market challenges while advancing digital modernization, portfolio changes and innovation initiatives.
Rendle has served as chief executive officer for six years and has been with Clorox for more than two decades. In a statement, she described the decision as difficult and personal, adding that she intends to remain focused on leading the company during the transition period.
Rendle said Clorox’s management team continues working to strengthen execution, advance innovation and restore profitable growth and market share despite ongoing operating challenges.
The company also announced that Rendle and Chief Financial Officer Luc Bellet will participate in a fireside chat at the dbAccess Global Consumer Conference in Paris on June 3.
