Nestlé Purina expands United States manufacturing with Batavia factory launch
Nestlé Purina PetCare announced that its new $550 million pet food factory in Batavia, Ohio, will officially open in August as the facility transitions to full production.
The Batavia facility represents Purina’s first ground-up factory construction project in the United States since 1975. According to the company, the site is its most advanced pet food manufacturing facility in the country and is expected to play a major role in expanding production capacity and strengthening supply chain operations.
The factory is already producing dry cat and dog food for several Purina brands, including Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE and Dog Chow. The facility currently employs more than 340 associates, with staffing expected to exceed 500 positions once operations are fully scaled.
Mike Ferritto, factory manager for Purina Batavia, said the project reflects a significant investment in manufacturing technology and workforce development in Clermont County.
Purina CEO and President Nina Leigh Krueger said the Batavia operation will support long-term production needs while helping maintain access to the company’s pet food products nationwide.
The Batavia plant will become Purina’s 24th manufacturing facility in the United States. The company said the site also strengthens the Cincinnati region’s food manufacturing sector, which includes more than 300 food and flavoring companies.
Purina said it has also invested in the local community through donations exceeding $346,000 to Clermont County organizations, including emergency services, law enforcement and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center through the Purina Foundation.
