FUCHS launches 55,000-square-foot lubricant research center
FUCHS Lubricants Co. has announced the opening of its new Americas Technology Center in Taunton, Massachusetts, expanding its research, development, testing, and technical support capabilities for advanced lubrication and tribology solutions.
The 55,000-square-foot facility will serve customers across the Americas and support applications in automotive, industrial manufacturing, metalworking, medical, and other sectors that rely on high-performance lubricants.
The Technology Center brings tribology laboratories, application development teams, and technical service specialists together in one location. According to FUCHS, the facility can replicate real-world operating conditions to support lubricant formulation, validation, and performance testing.
The company said the integrated approach will help optimize interactions between lubricants and surfaces while supporting improvements in equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and total cost of ownership.
The Taunton facility also connects regional teams with FUCHS’ global research and development network. Scientists, engineers, and customer-facing teams will collaborate on challenges involving higher power densities, new materials, changing regulatory requirements, and more sustainable lubrication technologies.
FUCHS said the center will also help move promising technologies from development to commercial production and support application-specific solutions at commercial quantities.
Customers, original equipment manufacturers, and research partners will be able to visit the facility for technical demonstrations, root cause analysis, and joint development projects. Those projects can align lubrication strategies with uptime, safety, and sustainability objectives.
The center will support research into demanding applications, including high-load industrial gearboxes, metalworking operations, semiconductor chip manufacturing, and systems used in extreme environments.
The grand opening coincides with FUCHS’ inaugural Lubrication Technology Conference, which brings together industry leaders, researchers, and technology organizations to discuss developments affecting lubrication technology and industrial performance.
