New Programmable Logic Controller workshop targets engineers and manufacturing managers
K-State-Olathe has announced a new one-day course, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Automation, which will provide engineering and management professionals with a practical introduction to PLC systems and industrial automation.
The in-person workshop is designed for professionals who define critical inputs for PLC systems but are not responsible for programming the controllers.
The course covers the fundamentals of PLC architecture, programming and troubleshooting. Participants will also learn about industrial communication protocols and their applications in manufacturing environments.
Additional topics include the concepts involved in creating, deploying and maintaining PLC-based systems in industrial settings. The workshop also examines related automation technologies, including Ethernet, Profinet, Modbus, Human Machine Interface and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems and their functions.
The course is part of a series of educational offerings from K-State-Olathe that also includes Reliable Flow from Hoppers on Sept. 22-23, 2026, Fundamentals of Dust Collection on Oct. 27-29, 2026, and Advanced Pneumatic Conveying on Dec. 8-10, 2026.
