Metso has introduced the third-generation OKTOP Cooling Tower, a compact cooling solution designed for demanding slurry and electrolyte duties in metals refining. According to Metso, the updated design increases cooling efficiency, reduces maintenance requirements, and supports faster installation, particularly in space-restricted brownfield environments.

The new cooling tower features an installation footprint up to 70 percent smaller than the previous model while maintaining high cooling performance. The design also prevents the recirculation of warm off-gas, which Metso says helps sustain consistent cooling efficiency. The company notes that the unit is the first self-cleaning cooling tower in the industry, allowing for extended operating intervals and reduced downtime.

Metso reports that the solution delivers the lowest emissions in its class and is offered as part of the Metso Plus portfolio. The company provides hydrometallurgical processing solutions, including process testing, flowsheet development, plant design and proprietary equipment supply.

Additional technical resources and design materials for the OKTOP Cooling Tower are available through Metso’s online resource center.
