Belt conveyor dust collection system targets transfer point emissions
C&W DustTech has launched a belt conveyor transfer point dry dust collection system designed to address fugitive dust emissions in heavy industry material handling operations.
The system targets conveyor transfer points, such as crusher discharge, screen discharge and conveyor-to-conveyor transfers, which are known sources of airborne particulate that can impact plant safety, maintenance and regulatory compliance.
According to C&W DustTech, the system is engineered to capture fine particulate, including particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers, before they migrate into surrounding work areas. The company states that unmanaged dust at transfer points can contribute to increased respirable exposure, higher maintenance demands, premature equipment wear and potential combustible dust hazards.
“Transfer points are where many dust collection systems fall short,” said Steve Cook, Mining, Aggregates & Cement Segments Manager at C&W DustTech. He noted that the system is designed to balance airflow and integrate with enclosure and ducting design to improve dust capture performance.
The dust collector is intended to operate as part of a fully engineered system that includes filter media, ducting and related components. When properly implemented, it captures dust at enclosed transfer points, improving air quality while reducing maintenance requirements and unplanned downtime.
