Mobile bag dumping station improves dust control and operator safety
Flexicon has introduced a mobile bag dumping station designed to enable dust-free bulk material handling while improving operator safety and plant flexibility.
The self-contained system allows operators to manually empty hand-held sacks into a sealed enclosure that isolates material from both personnel and the surrounding environment. The unit integrates bag dumping, compaction, and flexible screw conveying to transfer material to elevated process equipment or storage vessels.
According to Flexicon, the system maintains negative pressure within the enclosure using a dust collector and dual-cartridge filtration system, capturing dust generated during dumping and disposal. The filters are accessible for quick replacement through a removable interior baffle with quick-disconnect fittings.
Operators access bags through a hinged door and use built-in rubber gloves to open and empty them onto a grate without direct contact. Empty bags are then passed through a second door into an integrated compactor, which can compress up to 80 bags into a removable bin.
Safety interlocks prevent the compactor from operating unless all doors are securely closed. The system frame is mounted on locking casters, allowing it to be moved between plant locations or positioned for cleaning and storage.
Material discharged from the hopper feeds into a flexible screw conveyor equipped with a stainless-steel screw designed to handle a range of bulk materials, including those prone to caking, smearing, or fluidizing, without causing blend separation.
The mobile design supports manufacturing operations requiring flexible material handling while maintaining dust control and process efficiency.
